I bought this table for $20.00 at a yard sale. It wasn't really what I was looking for, but I thought it might be cute painted. I sanded it down very lightly just to ruff it up, since it was in pretty good shape.
Next, I used a spray primer to give it a more even surface color, because the wood was so dark and it had the detail on top. Lastly, I applied cream spray paint, wiped on some brown glaze to age it a bit, and topped it off with 2 coats of polyurethane.
For $20.00 I have a new addition to my living room. Stop over to Kimba's @ Soft Place to Land for some other great DIY projects or link up to the party and show off your own.

I have a coffee table that DH found in the trash about 6 years ago. It's rectangle, but has a similar design on top. I hate it. I think i will copy you!

Looks great! And it shows me what mine would look like white! I found basically the same table, but in a darker stain. We got it sanded and painted, and DH decided to paint the bottom green. Right now the top is cream, but we're still deciding how we want it.

I just finished redoing a table almost exactly like this ( http://4jeanniemaries.blogspot.com/2012/05/beachy.html ) The top was not inlaid like yours appears but it was all wood. I paid $6.00 for the table and $6.00 for the paint.
What kind of brown glaze did you use over it?
